Keeping Wordpress theme in Hugo

Hi,

I just started looking around here and I am wondering if there is a proper way to keep the current Wordpress’ theme layout/style.

I am not sure about “proper,” there are tools for migrating your content out of Wordpress. As for styling, keeping the same layout, etc, that is entirely up to you.

Please be more specific. If you are brand new, you might also want to check out themes.gohugo.io.

I didn’t know I have to create a separate theme for Hugo. I was thinking Hugo will generate the same HTML markup from current Wordpress site.

This seems like it will at least help in terms of the conversion from HTML to markdown, but to my knowledge, there aren’t a lot of 1-to-1 transfers of Wordpress themes to Hugo outside of the freebies:
